Pro Tips
Start with the largest image possible
Upload a high-resolution source image (at least 512x512). Downscaling produces better results than upscaling. The generator will create crisp icons at every size.
Keep it simple for small sizes
Favicons as small as 16x16 pixels can't show fine details. Use a single letter, simple shape, or solid color block for the best results at tiny sizes.
Use a solid background for Apple Touch Icons
iOS automatically adds rounded corners to home screen icons. Don't add rounded corners yourself, and avoid transparent backgrounds — they'll appear as black on iOS.
Test on actual devices
After adding favicons to your site, test on iPhone (home screen), Android (home screen), and desktop browsers. Each platform renders icons differently.
Include all essential sizes
At minimum, include 16x16, 32x32 (browser tabs), 180x180 (Apple Touch Icon), 192x192 and 512x512 (Android/PWA). The generator creates all of these automatically.
