What is WCAG contrast?
WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) defines minimum contrast ratios between text and background colors to ensure readability. AA requires 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. AAA requires 7:1 and 4.5:1 respectively.
What is a good contrast ratio?
A contrast ratio of 4.5:1 or higher meets WCAG AA for normal text. For AAA compliance, aim for 7:1. Large text (18px+ bold or 24px+) has lower requirements.
How do I check contrast?
Enter or pick a foreground (text) color and a background color. The tool instantly shows the contrast ratio and whether it passes AA and AAA standards.
What counts as large text?
In WCAG, large text is defined as 18pt (24px) or larger regular text, or 14pt (18.66px) or larger bold text.
