How do I add a person to the family tree?
Click the 'Add Person' button, fill in their name, birth year, gender, and optionally a death year. Then use the relationship fields to connect them to existing people.
Can I add spouses to the tree?
Yes. When adding a person, select 'Spouse' as the relationship type and choose the person they are married to. Spouses appear side-by-side connected with a horizontal line.
How are generations laid out?
The tree uses a top-down layout — ancestors at the top, descendants below. Each generation is a horizontal row. Children are centered beneath their parents.
Can I export the family tree?
Yes. Export as SVG (vector, infinitely scalable) or PNG (raster image) using the download buttons above the tree canvas.
Is my data saved?
Yes. Your family tree data is automatically saved to your browser's localStorage. It will be available next time you open the page on the same browser.
