How to Write Resume Bullet Points That Get Interviews
The Bullet Formula
[Action Verb] + [What You Did] + [Result/Metric]. Example: 'Reduced API response time by 68% by implementing Redis caching, lowering infrastructure cost by $24k/year.' Every word earns its place.
Action Verbs That Work
Start every bullet with a strong verb: Built, Led, Reduced, Increased, Launched, Designed, Implemented, Delivered, Optimized, Automated, Scaled, Mentored, Drove, Architected. Avoid: 'Responsible for', 'Assisted with', 'Helped', 'Worked on'.
Adding Metrics When You Don't Have Exact Numbers
Most people think they don't have metrics — but they do: team size you worked with, number of users/customers affected, time saved, percentage improvements (even estimated ones — label them as estimates), dollar amounts (project budget, cost reduction, revenue generated).
