How to Study for Exams With Flashcards — 4-Week Plan That Works

Sunil Kalikayi4/8/20266 min read

Week 1: Card Creation Phase

Convert all study material into flashcards. Don't study yet — focus entirely on creating high-quality cards. Target: 10–20 cards per hour of reading. By the end of Week 1 you should have a complete deck covering all exam-relevant material. Use Create Cards to build the deck.

Week 2: Initial Learning Phase

Study all cards once daily. For cards you get wrong: study the material, then re-attempt in the same session. By end of Week 2: 70–80% of cards should be at '1 correct' stage. Don't worry about cards you miss consistently — these are identified as weak points to intensify in Week 3.

Week 3: Intensive Review Phase

Focus on weak cards. Study them 2–3 times per session. Strong cards (consistently answered correctly): review once every 2–3 days. Track performance in Stats to identify which cards have the lowest accuracy — these are your highest priority.

Week 4: Final Consolidation

Days 1–5: full deck review once daily — all cards regardless of difficulty. Days 6–7 (pre-exam): review only cards marked 'needs review'. On exam day: don't cram. A good night's sleep consolidates more memory than any last-minute session. Trust the 4 weeks of preparation.
