How Often Should You Update Your Resume?

Update Immediately When:
You complete a major project with a measurable outcome. You get promoted or change roles. You earn a new certification. You receive a notable recognition or award. You accomplish something that significantly outdoes a bullet already on your resume.
Quarterly Refresh:
Re-read your resume every 3 months and ask: is this still my best work? Are these my strongest bullets? Is my summary still accurate? Do these keywords match the market?
Annual Full Review:
Once per year: remove experience older than 15 years (if not senior/executive), update template if it looks dated, refresh your photo if included, ensure all URLs still work.
