Digital Calendar Planning: Monthly, Weekly, and Daily Views for Maximum Productivity
Monthly View: Strategic Planning
The monthly calendar is for high-level planning — major deadlines, events, travel, release dates. Color-code by category (work, personal, health). Identify 'heavy weeks' (multiple deadlines) vs. 'light weeks' (buffer for catch-up). The monthly view prevents surprise overloads that only become apparent when you're already in them.
Weekly View: Tactical Allocation
Each Sunday, plan the week at task level. Time-block specific hours for deep work, meetings, admin, and breaks. Protect your highest-energy hours (typically morning) for deep work. Batch similar tasks: all calls in the afternoon, all email in two scheduled windows.
Daily View: Execution
The daily view is for execution, not planning. Each morning: identify the 1–3 most important tasks (MITs) for the day. Everything else is secondary. Resist adding meetings to your deep work blocks — protect those.
